DG GROW - Internal Market, Industry Entrepreneurship and SMEs

Directorate General Enterprise and Industry within the European Commission is responsible for the Space programme in Horizon 2020.

Programme Committee Space

The EU Member States and Horizon 2020 Associated Countries send delegates to the Programme Committee Space to support DG Enterprise & Industry find joint agreements on the content and budget of the Space programme.

Research Executive Agency (REA)

The Research Executive Agency is a funding body for research and innovation. It is responsible for receiving and evaluating the Space proposals and managing the projects selected for funding (except GNSS related ones).

European GNSS Agency (GSA)

The GSA takes the role of the project agency for GNSS related proposals and projects. The GSA’s mission is to ensure that users in Europe and around the world fully benefit from Europe’s satellite navigation programmes. To do this, the Agency is responsible for the operation and service provision for both EGNOS and Galileo.

European Space Agency (ESA)

The European Space Agency (ESA) is Europe’s gateway to space. Its mission is to shape the development of Europe’s space capability and ensure that investment in space continues to deliver benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world. ESA is an international organisation with 22 Member States. By coordinating the financial and intellectual resources of its members, it can undertake programmes and activities far beyond the scope of any single European country.

European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT)

The European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) is an intergovernmental organisation who’s primary objective is to establish, maintain and exploit European systems of operational meteorological satellites. EUMETSAT is responsible for the launch and operation of the satellites and for delivering satellite data to end-users as well as contributing to the operational monitoring of climate and the detection of global climate changes.
